Conductor: Phil Daish-Handy

Dynamic, passionate, and internationally acclaimed, Philip Daish-Handy has captivated audiences around the world. His rise to prominence began with a triumph at the prestigious Music at Beaulieu Competition, which paved the way for major scholarships, high-profile performances, and multiple recordings.

As the Founder and Artistic Director of Nova Foresta Philharmonic, the New Forest’s only professional orchestra, Philip has led breathtaking orchestral concerts and operas, forging collaborations with renowned choirs and choral societies across the UK. His recent performances—Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Britten’s Frank Bridge Variations, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7—have earned widespread critical acclaim.

In his role as Musical Director of the Lymington Choral Society, Philip has delivered unforgettable interpretations of choral masterpieces, including Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, Mozart’s Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah, all met with standing ovations. Additionally, he is honoured to serve as conductor for two thriving chamber choirs, Choralia Milford and Voices of the Forest, further enriching the UK’s vibrant choral scene.

Philip Daish-Handy continues to inspire musicians and audiences alike with his artistic vision, electrifying performances, and unwavering commitment to musical excellence. Philip is represented by Evangelista Artists Management, Munich.

Accompanist: Timothy Rice

Timothy Rice has been involved in music from an early age. Piano tuition started at home and, at the age of six, he also joined his local church choir. Interest in the organ was almost immediate as the probationary period in the choir required new choristers to sit alongside the organist at the console during services for the first few weeks; it was from this vantage point that Timothy watched and listened in fascination at the skill of the organist and the sound of the instrument.

After progressing to Grade V on the piano, he was then allowed to embark on the thrills of organ playing. At the age of thirteen, Timothy took his first organist post at a neighbouring parish church under the vigilant ears and eyes of a cleric who also just happened to be conductor of a choral society.

He gained his Associateship of the London College of Music (for piano playing) while still at school and, in 1989, became an Associate of the Royal College of Organists.

Timothy has lived in the New Forest area since 1983. He was Director of Music at Hordle Parish Church from 1983, a post he held for thirty-two years until being appointed to his present position as Director of Music at St. John’s Church, Boldre in 2015. Timothy is also accompanist to Lymington Choral Society and works as a freelance organist and accompanist.

Since then he has travelled widely with various Chamber Operas, The London Opera Group, Kent Opera, The Chelsea Opera Group, The English Bach Festival, L’Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing and The Royal Opera Company Covent Garden.
